If Seattle got a NBA team, would we move to the east?

Cause I'm down with that

Memphis is technically more East than NOLA
actually now that I look that I look at a map I'm not sure that's really true
yea, I guess we would. geographically anyway.

geographically we fit better in the West, and specifically in our division.
remember the hornets were only in the east because we came from Charlotte.
I think a team like Minnesota would fit in better in the Central in the east.

It all depends on how Seattle got that NBA team.
They wouldnt let them start a new franchise because the NBA would have 31 teams and uneven amount in each conference. Either a team would move there, or they would start 2 new franchises, 1 in each conference.
And, typically dont they do an entire conference realignment?

Would hope they would add Seattle and do away with conferences and call it a day

they need to rearrange the conferences and divisions

Ever watch Requiem For A Team, the documentary on Seattle's relocation? It kinda made me hate OKC. I know there were tons of mitigating circumstances in their purchase and move, but still. I hope they get a team one day, and see the Pels move to the East.

Well, if Milwaukee loses the Bucks to Seattle, that certainly sets the stage for a WC team to move east. Who knows? But we do sort of fit in with San Antonio, Houston, etc.

i had a post a year or so back where i re-did the divisions to make the most geographical sense, and NOLA was still in the west because of proximity to all of the Texas teams.

They should just do away with all the divisions. Reduce the amount of games played to 64, that way every team play each other twice, and seed the playoffs by the top 16 teams.

If they moved Milwaukee to Seattle, maybe we would go eastbound
ETA. dammit, uncle VOR beat me to it.

That sounds amazing. Doubt it happens though.

Very unlikely to happen.
The contract for the Bucks sale says that, if they don't get a new arena by the time their lease expires in 2017, the league will buy the team for $50m more than what the new owners paid Herb Kohl for it.
Given that Commissioner Silver pushed hard to keep the Kings in Sacramento, I figure that Milwaukee will be given ample opportunity to keep the team before the league sells them to, say, a group in Seattle or Vegas.

They won't chop 18 games off the schedule for revenue purposes. Nor would the players want that.
I think another 2-3 years of this type of thing happening will be cause for an overhaul. This year, the NBA has a built in excuse with Jefferson's injury, and the Hawks maybe beating the slumping Pacers.

We should be in the same division as Atlanta. I hate Atlanta

that would only be 58 games

Yeah I always said Memphis has no business in the west geographically.

Minnesota needs to be in the Central Division 1st and Memphis needs to be in the Heat's division. MLB had 16 teams in the NL compared to 14 in the AL prior to Houston moving. Why can't the NBA? OKC also needs to be in the Texas division. I saw where they were going to build the new Key Arena for the Kings. Great location. Quest Field (the Chest, Safeco Field (the Safe), and Key Arena (the Key).
