Pretty good stuff, it's made in Thibodeaux. It's the 2nd local rum I've tried and it's definitely better than Bayou Rum. I had it straight, with coke, and made a dark and stormy. Was delicious in all three forms. It's about $18-20 a bottle and 80 proof, very good stuff. Oh, and the bottle is pretty cool. I highly recommend you guys pick up a bottle.

My SO's parents got some as part of a "Louisiana" basket they won at an auction (also included a ton of Louisiana Fish Fry Products, some local rice vodka, some Swamp Pop soda, a wine from Covington, and a couple random microbrews). I'm looking forward to trying it. I think we're going to do an end of the school year party with some rum based drinks with it.

I bet a Swamp Pop and the rum would make for a good drink.

I really want to use their Pecan praline cream soda with that rum on the rocks while sitting beach side. Talk about a damn good day.

I've walked through the distillery. Nice place. Couple of md's.

I think they either have a vodka as well, or are gonna have it out soon.

Vodka was their first product; it called Oryza and is made using Louisiana rice.

IIRC, they have a dark rum and a clear rum, both are made using sugar cane from one of the owners' family owned cane farm/plantation.

Haven't tried anything from them yet, but I've heard they are doing well with everything.

Hmmm. I may have to try that. I'm a fan of the Bayou Rum.

That's it. The clear rum was set to come out.

Got my clear libations confused.

You say its better than Bayou Rum, but they don't even have a dark to compare it to. If youre comparing it to Bayou Rum Silver it probably has more flavor because its a dark rum. I dont think its better than bayou Spiced Rum however. The Oryza vodka from rice is interesting, its worth trying but has a little twang that some vodka drinkers may not like

I'm comparing it to the spiced, not saying Bayou is bad or anything.

It was $19 at Rouses the other day.

I think in a Dark and Stormy the Rougaroux would be much better, i actually drink the Bayou Spiced on the rocks.

I like Bayou, my only beef with it is the price point. For just a few dollars more I can buy a handle of Sailor Jerry's which to me is a lot better. I think Bayou is a good bit better than the Captain, though.

I've been meaning to try the Kraken, it's about the only big name brand that I have yet to try. Those bottles are awesome.

I work with one of the owners. Most of their stuff is good. Praline rum is good straight. Gin is very good. They also make whiskey which I have yet to try.

I bartended a 30 year reunion a while back and a lady there gave me 2 cases of Rougaroux liquor to use. It was filled with their gin, whiskey, vodka, and dark and clear rums. I tried all of them, but thought the gin and vodka were the best, simply comparing them to the more common names that were there (Bombay, Hendricks, Beefeater, Tanqueray). I enjoy gin, and can honestly say that I'll be looking for theirs in the future.
