I'm getting married in Alabama in a month, but we live in Mississippi. Do I have to get the marriage license from Alabama or can it be from Mississippi?

I believe it has to be the state in which you are marrying the cousin.

How about you don't get a license at all and just have some rogue minister marry you in the eyes of the church and save yourself a headache down the road.

I'm pretty sure you will need to apply for a license in Bama where the ceremony will take place.

You don't have to marry your sister.

AL requires an ID to prove she is 15 or older and not your sister.

Don't worry about getting one in bama, use a MS one, then when you get divorced you can get off easy since it won't ever be considered a legal marriage. Loop hole

Alabama. Make sure to look at waiting periods and documents needed.

Doubt they still require blood test and usually don't have wait times, but better make sure of it.

You have to purchase the license in whatever state you are getting married. Just a suggestion - make sure you request a couple extra certified copies and have it recorded at the clerk of court in the state you live. It'll save you a headache later down the road if you ever need to get a copy
