There have been threads about the downsides of Baton Rouge, and there is an endless debate about BR <<<<<>>>>>>NO. Other than it being the home of your alma mater, or the town where most of your family lives and/or you grew up, what do you LIKE about living in the Baton Rouge area?

I'm originally from LaPlace, so for me, BR offers somewhat of a "City" atmosphere without being obnoxiously large (or smelly, like SOME places)....

It's grown into a nice sized city but still has a small town feel, I still see people I know nearly everywhere I go in public.

Other than the fact that my family lives there, nothing.

Thinking of moving next year.

From when I lived there

Saturdays in the fall
Abundance of crawfish boils that are done correctly
St Patty's day
Obviously LSU
Downtown was pretty fun

I can't really think of anything besides that

I always found the endless kerthump-kerthump-kerthump of I-12 to be rather soothing.

The area around the campus lakes and the Garden District is pretty nice. I love the overpass area in particular.

What do other Cities offer that Baton Rouge does not that people actually care about?

BR has

-good restaurants,
-descent number of bars,
-LSU,
-pretty good shopping,
-descent job market (relative),
-a good park system with BREC,
-downtown is on its way back and gets better every year,
-perkins overpass area,
-LSU Lakes,
-close to False river & tickfaw/lake maurepas,
-close enough to enjoy all New Orleans offers with out living there,
-4-5 hours from Houston and Great beaches,
-close to great fishing & hunting

There are more but i figured this is enough to get dragged over the coals.
