‘SNL‘ will take a bit of a break this weekend following ‘Neighbors‘ star Seth Rogen‘s third time hosting, returning on May 3 with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2”s Andrew Garfield, but consider the long-running NBC sketch comedy to have much larger plans in mind for the future: an epic, star-studded, three-hour broadcast in February 2015 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Saturday Night Live’!

This early on, of course, we only know that the three-hour special will air on Sunday (really?), February 15 of next year from 8:00 – 1100 p.m. Still, consider the sheer possibility for potential guests, including the man cast, musical acts, past hosts, or any number of such distinguished alumni since the 1975 beginning as Will Ferrell, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Billy Crystal, Dan Ackroyd, Steve Martin, Dana Carvey, Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Mike Myers, Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, or, of course, late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.

Lol Sunday Night Live.

It won't be funny and it'll have a ton of cameos. Just like every other episode in recent memory.

Most of them.. There are a few funny bits but they are run into the ground often, totally defeating the funniness it had.
I realize it's tough to consistently have funny material.. But that's their job, and it's not to run out celebrities constantly, that's not comedy.

I remember a time when the celebrities were the regular cast and it was consistently funny.

fair enough. most people come barking up in these threads having watched one episode in 5 years. i think these past 2 seasons have been some of the best since the 90s, and i find the episodes with fewer cameos to be some of the best of those.

I like this.

And I'm glad they're taking a break. I didn't laugh once during the Seth Rogen episode...and I usually find him really funny.

Bring back the best players from the past 15 years and dangle Farleys skeleton from the back, even dead, he'd be 10x funnier than some of the people there now.

I thought the one with Pharrell and Anna Kendrick was pretty funny. It was the first one I've seen in a while. I noticed Pharrell lip syncing. I guess that's acceptable again.
