Apparently into the Baltic regions as well.
Poland's defense minister has said US ground forces will be sent to Poland to expand NATO's presence there as events continue to unfold in neighboring Ukraine, The Washington Post reported.

Tomasz Siemoniak told the Post Friday that military planners were already working on the details and that Poland would play a lead role "under US patronage."
He added that US ground troops would also likely be sent to the Baltic states, under the push to increase NATO's presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby meanwhile said a range of measures were being considered to bolster air, maritime and ground readiness in Europe.
"Some of those activities will be pursued bilaterally with individual NATO nations. Some will be pursued through the Alliance itself."

F'n great. Our President(and congress) want to continue HUGE reductions in military personnel, but they want to act like we still have the numbers of the early 2000s.

Hmm... I disagree with this use of my taxpayer money. Can I get a refund?

All they are gonna do is rotate a company from the Black Sea rotational force into Poland.

The Marines have been doing rotations in Eastern Europe since 2011 FWIW.

12 F-16s there TDY through at the least the end of the year. This isn't a company going TDY, it will be a larger force.

quote:True, I would like to see the numbers on this build up. USAF IPs have been flying with the Poles since they purchased F-16s. This is above the current cooperation in the eastern European countries.

I'm glad to see it. It sends a tough message and it's a tangible defense asset for eastern Europe.

I was on the Black Sea Rotational Force in 2012.

What I don't get is the "world police" attached to the U.S. thingy. The government says we can't be the world police when it comes to a non NATO member but it's perfectly okay to play policeman when NATO is behind a country's name?
I just don't get it.

Defending your allies that you have a treaty with isn't being the world's "policeman."

I don't know what to tell you man. You were born in America and we've had these treaties for about 65 years or so. I know you don't believe in government so I won't try to argue with you. I'm afraid you're shite out of luck here.

I didn't sign a treaty. It is your birth-rite.

I agree with this move. It should have been done alot sooner IMO. Looks like lip service is falling through, and strategic moves are necessary. Now, get that missle shield going..

Okay. Then why did the U.S. think they had a right to make a big stink about the Ukraine/Crimea situation. We should have kept our mouths shut and our opinions to ourselves since we didn't have a treaty with them. Why do we think we have a right to impose sanctions on Russia? I would think that the sanctions were an indication that we have a dog in the hunt, treaty or no treaty thus considering Ukraine an ally.

BTW the women in eastern Europe are . Totally worth fighting a war over IMO.
