How would you like to have an office on the top floor? Not me.

"Consultants Advanced Construction Technology Services have recently announced testing materials to build the 3,280-feet (1 kilometer) skyscraper "

Why is that even necessary? Seems dangerous.

What could possibly go wrong?
Tall building, in a country hated by terrorists in the middle east. Nothing wrong here

Here's an interesting fact. The building is being financed by the family of Osama Bin Laden.

I'm wondering who makes cranes y'all enough to make this happen. Also, you couldn't pay me enough money to work above the clouds like that

For lack of a better way to put it, the crane kida sits on the top floor of the building. When it's time to add a new floor, they jack the crane up a floor and basically slide a new segment of support under the crane as the building goes up around it. The crane builds itself as it builds the building, often using the building structure itself as its own support. Then, when the construction's all done, they disassemble everything and lower anything that isn't building down to the ground.

Well, the main reason I wouldn't want to work in an office in that building is because it would mean I somehow ended up in Saudi Arabia.

With buildings that tall, they actually install many cranes on multiple floors, cantilevered off the edge.

The family disowned/disavowed Osama years ago, even before 9/11 apparently.

This, too. The one at the top often can't lift all the way from the ground, simply because at some height, the cable's own weight would snap itself or the load would have to be tiny since the cable is so heavy. They do what Dodd said and build intermediate cranes to make the lifts in stages as the building gets taller, and the one at the top is picking up loads brought up by the intermediate cranes.

Wonder how many people will attempt to jump off that thing, if they build it?
