I hate the phrase "soup to nuts"

It refers to a full course meal. The phrase suggests everything is there like from the first course, soup, to the last, nuts.

Yeah, it's not my favorite phrase either.

Strange...in Roman times, it was "nuts to apples". Nuts were a pre-meal appetizer and honeyed apples were served for desert.
