Huzzah for all College Basketball Fans! LINK

Also of note in the article is possibly changing the lottery system and the playoff format (abolishing conferences when the postseason rolls around and just going with the 16 best records).

Rule should be same as Football

3 years removed from High school. Might get better quality in NBA, and in college.

Only if every team has the same teams on the schedule

IMO they need to go like MLB. You can go out of high school but otherwise you have to wait until you're 21

I know the MLB draft works differently but I think something like that would be a win-win for NBA and college basketball

Do not think that would be a win for College Ball. If anything, more players might head straight for NBA out of high school than the previous system since now they'd have to go to College for (typically) at least 3 years instead of just being able to bolt after 1 season.

16 best records in the playoffs makes sense but only if every team plays the same teams the same number of times.

As it is right now, you play every team in your own conference 3 or 4 times, and every team in the other conference 2 times.

This means the Eastern Conference teams have easier schedules than the West.

And if you do that, then there really isn't even a need for two different conferences.

And I'm torn on the issue of the NBA having a 2 year college requirement.

On one hand, a player should be able to play if a team is willing to sign him regardless of his age.

On the other hand, NBA teams take gambles on high school kids who aren't yet ready for the NBA in hopes that they will be NBA stars in the future.

The 1 year in college rule isn't much different than the high school to NBA rule.

You need them for travel purposes.

Yeah, which sucks for the West, but it still helps if they simply put the 16 best in the playoffs. Phoenix would be in and Atlanta would be out this season. That's it.

Particularly when you consider the high % of players who only attend fall semester classes and then blow off the spring since they know they're leaving anyway.

At least under this new age limit it would be 3 semesters if the player wishes to remain fully eligible.

And I don't like the 2 year college requirement, simply because my Pels wouldn't have Anthony Davis if the rule was enacted years ago.

I don't like that the players union supports something they know is stupid.

This is like 0% or a bunch of schools would have terrible APR scores and would be banned from the tournament.
