Looking for a unique deer plot

Anyone tried planting something besides food plot mixes? Maybe peanuts? There has to be something I'm not thinking of? Just want to change it up a bit. A friend has a garden that the deer absolutely rape. I've considered planting a garden for a spring plot and just letting it go. Should be cheap!
