Pretty sure the rule is that you have to wait two full seasons after a jersey overhaul before you can add an alternate.

At the original unveiling they announced there would be an alternate revealed for 2014-15 and a "special" alternate revealed for 2015-16

Yea red is the way to go in the same layout as the ones now. I don't think gold would look too good.
