The freedom from religion foundation is at it again, this time whining about how Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is trying to instill values in his players through church-related activities.

Seriously, frick these asshats.

I mean I'm a little mad, I'm not a Clemson fan or anything, but I like Coach Swinney and applaud him for trying to teach these guys more than just football.

These clowns do this all the time; they love attention. I hope Dabo tells them to try to shove that rock Clemson has up their asses.

That isn't his job. His job is to coach football. He can easily teach values without any random religion.

Y'all are really going to take these trolls side? Dabo spends his life mentoring young men, many of them from rough backgrounds, and these people live to criticize others.

I dont see the big deal

As a solid atheist, and a firm believer there is no such thing as a god, if they get something positive out of it, who cares. They clearly state it's 100% voluntary, if grown men who have the right to vote, want to gather together on their own free time and talk about Thor or Zeus or Buddah, or whatever fictional character they think is out there, so be it.

there's a ton more scandalous shite going on in college football programs bigger than church/state

Beliefs are just that. Beliefs. It's not appropriate to try and force your beliefs on others in that environment. You can teach good values without making it all about some personal faith.

Cause teaching players good moral values in a surrounding that involves Christianity is the same as teaching Islam.

Just because they may be asshats doesn't mean they aren't correct.

America has no official religion, and that's a good thing.

so you can't teach good morals using Islam? you can only use Christianity?

or are we going to pick and choose from the bible and only use the happy times instead of the raping and pillaging?

I think I have no problem with this as long as Dabo does not force his values. First of all, I am sure Dabo talked about God in some extent when he recruited these dudes. shite, I bet the vast majority of the team is Christian anyway and wants them. I do hope any players not in favor do not have to participate or are not ostracized.
