I am close to finishing my first semester up in college and I want to start building my credit. I am mainly looking for low interest and/or cash back. What's the best card out there for a student?

Check Bank Rate. They have a pretty substantial list of credit cards available and allow you to sort what you're looking for.

If you have never had a credit card before the terms will not be all that great since you don't have a history, I wouldn't count on a low interest rate at all.

If you didn't already know, so long as you pay the entire balance by the due date the interest rate won't matter b/c you don't pay interest until after that. So be sure you always pay the full balance due by the due date. Except for cash advances, that is - for that interest starts accruing immediately, which is why cash advances on cards are generally a bad idea.

I don't know what reward cards are out there for people with little to no credit history, perhaps someone out there can provide more detail. Good luck.

Don't bother paying attention to the interest rate. Just pay it off every month. You'll likely just have to take what you can get too, don't expect to get any lofty rewards for your fist CC. The chase freedom card is probably a good starting point.

Capital One. Best starter card for college kids with no credit history. You'll start with a $500 limit.

I'm guessing you can probably get a discover it card. I used to get mail for them all the time throughout college. I finally got one, and I really like it. The cash back program is as good as other cards like the chase freedom (I think that's the one), and you get to see your FICO credit score for free on each statement.

Go to myfico.com and sign up on their forums...TONS of info about credit cards and building credit. Capital One is your best bet for a first card with rewards, unless you have to settle for a secured card. If you go that route then check out Bank Of America, they have a secured Visa that you can convert to the 123 rewards card as soon as you receive it. Do yourself a favor and dont go app happy, all those inquiries will knock your score down and looks bad to creditors. Discover It is a good card, unless you have a couple of years of credit history without any baddies you would probably get approved, probably not the best odds if its your first card

I have a 123 card from wells fargo. Tied to my checking and savings account. Started me off at $700 with very little credit and no cosigner.
