quote:
The Louisiana House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly against a bill that would strike down the state’s longstanding statutory ban on sodomy on Tuesday — with 67 members voting to keep anti-sodomy provisions in the law, 27 voting to remove them, and 11 not voting.
The bill would have amended the state’s “crimes against nature” statute, in part, to remove language banning sodomy between people of both the same sex and opposite sex because it was found unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003 and cannot be enforced by state or local officials. In the case, Lawrence v. Texas, the Supreme Court found that such laws violate the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Why are you just posting this story? It's been discussed around here and on the PT a few times already.
It depresses the shite out of me knowing we have so many ignorant people in this state.

Big fricking deal.
What important laws got approved or shot down? I am amazed at the coverage this has gotten. That little cocksucker Denny Schafer can't talk about anything else on 99.5. God he sucks.

But still didn't stop the EBR Sheriff for arresting people for it. Yet, we can't get unenforceable laws off of the books.

How the frick do you enforce this?
Posted on 4/17/14 at 9:03 am to StormTiger
I'd bet that the USSC will strike this down eventually. They've already ruled that anti-sodomy laws are unconstitutional.
By the way, this law also outlaws blowjobs.

So it was ruled unconstitutional, and they all voted to keep it anyway?
Do these betas think that people will think they're gay if they vote to decriminalize sodomy?

typical politicians focusing on the wrong shite!

And at least five of those folks went home and got a blowjob that night.
The really crazy part is that it is a FELONY in LA. Blows my mind.
I read up on the arguments when the bill got killed and the comments were crazy. Someone spouted off that getting rid of the bill would lead to rape of minors or some such implication and things just fell apart from there. Never mind that sex with a minor is a completely separate offense.
I love Louisiana and our culture (hell, I even kind of dig the crazy politics we have) but this action by our elected officials was truly disappointing. I actually can't figure out if it was an ultra-religious thing, an anti-homosexual thing or just general reluctance to rock the boat for fear of losing votes. I can say with certainty that every person that voted that down is a damn coward.
Of course the very term "sodomy" sounds bad. She should have named the bill "legalize blowjobs and PIIHB" and those guys would have been standing in line to approve the bill.
