lawsuit filed Wednesday accuses "X-Men" director Bryan Singer of sexually abusing a teenage boy 15 years ago.
Singer allegedly offered the aspiring teen actor a role in an "X-Men" film if he gave in to his sexual demands, while threatening to destroy his career if he didn't, according to the civil suit filed in U.S. District Court in Hawaii Wednesday.
Singer's representative said the accusations were "completely without merit."
"We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit," Singer's rep said. "It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan' s new movie is about to open in a few weeks."

The alleged sex abuse incidents detailed in the lawsuit happened in 1998 and 1999 when the plaintiff was 17, the suit said.
Most of the alleged sex abuse took place at parties at a California, mansion, the suit said.
Other incidents allegedly happened during two trips to Hawaii.
Singer "manipulated his power, wealth, and position in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse and exploit the underage Plaintiff through the use of drugs, alcohol, threats and inducements which resulted in Plaintiff suffering catastrophic psychological and emotional injuries," the complaint alleged.
Singer "promised acting roles to Plaintiff in an X-Men movie, in commercials, and in other of his projects, and professed that he would arrange for Plaintiff to audition for roles and projects in others' productions," it alleged.

Doesn't mean that claims like these should be ignored.

Not at all I agree, need to uncover POS sex abusers like Darren Sharper more often but it is a little convenient this happened pretty close to the same time the new X-men is coming out

I thought this thread was going to be about how Singer screwed America with his interpretation of X-men.

He was also accused of something shady during the filming of Apt Pupil. Something to do with underage kids in a shower.

He definitely has the look of a creepy pedo.

This is one way to get him away from Xmen.

true but from the article in the OP
quote:
Egan said when his mother learned about the abuse when he was 17 she called the Los Angeles Police, who then brought in the FBI. Although he gave a statement to investigators, it "fell on deaf ears" and nothing came of the investigation, he said.
The FBI spokeswoman in Los Angeles told CNN the agency would not confirm or deny that there was an investigation or why it might not have been pursued.
The lawsuit said that most of the alleged sex abuse took place at parties hosted at an Encino, California, mansion, by a man who Egan and two other young men successfully sued in 2004 for sex abuse. The men won a $4 million judgment against him, but Singer was not a defendant in that case.
also, today there was a presser

from the article accompanying the video
quote:
ABC has already distanced themselves from Bryan Singer by removing his name from all promotional material for upcoming drama series Black Box. As well as claiming that he was forced into a number of sex acts (at gunpoint in one instance), Egan claims that Singer supplied him with drugs and alcohol, forced him to inhale cocaine, pushed Egan into a swimming pool, later held his head underwater, and repeatedly raped him. All of this was combined with promises of work in Singer's films.
quote:
The filmmaker is of course innocent until proven guilty, and it's unknown whether any legal action will be taken following the $300,000 lawsuit. 20th Century Fox (the studio responsible for the X-Men franchise) released a brief statement about the allegations, stating: "These are serious allegations, and they will be resolved in the appropriate forum. This is a personal matter, which Bryan Singer and his representatives are addressing separately." It very much sounds like they're distancing themselves from the director ahead of the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
quote:
Alarmingly, a post on reddit is full of claims that Singer targets young men with the promise of roles in his projects, with one even claiming that "Bryan Singer dropped Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty after they became too old and Superman Returns bombed. What, did you think a 24 year old Dan Harris became the writer of X-Men 2 based solely on narrative talent?" The photos below don't exactly look good either!
of course post on the internet aren't exactly the most trustworthy things ever but if you want to read the thread...

I'll say the same thing about a guy, straight or gay: You're LOADED. Just frick people who are over 18. There's a huge pool of hot girls and guys 18-30 who want to get with you because of your clout in Hollywood. You gotta figure Ian McKellen is shaking his head and saying "shite, now I gotta talk about this in every interview for the next two months. Way to make all gay men look like pedophiles."

Gotta love the middle finger pose. Creative.

But still, the kid looks 18-20. If he fricked a 17 year old, then I can't buy that it was rape. The 17 year old may have lied to him. This doesn't seem to be a Polanski or Allen type situation.
And the fact that he claims to be straight?
He may as well claim that he is a post op transsexual. That may be the gayest photo I've ever seen.

So he's a guy with power in Hollywood?

Well it was the best one(original trilogy).

I have a hard time believing he's straight as well--would a straight 17 year old boy willingly go to a gay party like that? I doubt it. With that said, Singer is yet another example of these Hollywood types who think they're above the law and can do what they want. As crazy as Corey Feldman is nowadays, I'm really curious if he's going to go through with naming all the Hollywood pedos like he said he would. No doubt that sexual abuse has always been a part of Hollywood--the vast majority of the Disney Nickelodeon crowd is screwed up (Hilary Duff not included). Lots of these sicko directors want the under 18 crowd and use the casting couch to their advantage to achieve that.

I laughed out loud at this. It's not like the kid was 8. He was a 17 year old who got the acting bug and was hanging out in mansions and taking trips to Hawaii with a big name director. Now he's poor and a failure and I'm sure a disappointment to his family so he's looking for a handout or maybe a daytime lifetime movie deal. If he had been just couple months older it would've been just some gay dude getting shot down.

x-men....more like sex-men

Yes he does. You can all but guarantee that someone that looks as creepy as this motherfricker does either has sugar in his tank, is a child predator, or both.

Uh, mom went to the FBI in 2000. Another man was prosecuted based on her interview. Singer was left alone.
And he claims it started at 15, not 17
