Asked in an interview with CBS News about a Russian fighter buzzing a U.S. Navy ship in the Black Sea on Saturday, Obama said, “They’re not interested in any kind of military confrontation with us, understanding that our conventional forces are significantly superior to the Russians.”

On one hand, his rhetoric is pretty sad.

On the other, what can he do at this point. Posturing now won't do any good because he's already perceived as weak. I guess him not starting a war to cover his ineptitude and lack of spine is something we should be thankful for.

Obama just needs to STFU. Getting into another war serves no purpose, and running your mouth serves no purpose unless military force is both credible and advisable.

I'm really surprised he'd even flex his muscles that much.

I agree with Obama here. They don't want us involved.

Are we even going to have an army to fight with after Obama is done?

We have one after Pres Cheney and his sidekick Bushie sacrificed our troops over Iraq when invasion was not needed. Why would we not now.

So in afghanistan and iraq we lost between 3000 - 6000 total troops if I estimate correctly... we have a military and always will, plenty of battles/wars were fought by our nation would consider that lost # small... when the time comes the military complex will be turned back on unless we bankrupt the nation...

I used to work with a guy that believed that bible prophecy predicted that Russia and China would nuke the U.S. with submarines, then basically carve up the rest of the world among themselves. Ultimately they would attack Israel, and that we be Armageddon.

I used to think he was nuts. Now I find myself hoping we maintain our nuclear submarine second-strike capability.

There are battles in our history where we lost more than that in a day.

The Russians will not be in a war with us. Mainly because they will get what they want without any resistance from us.
The superior conventional forces will not be used and the Russians know this.

Too bad Britain and France haven't launched yet. Maybe Obama could follow suit.

I agree with this. War sucks.

Ridiculous.

Sovereignty is overrated.
