Looking to extend my patio, an area of about 550 sq feet. I know nothing about how much that might or where to start looking up the right people to do this.

Any way of quickly knowing what I'm looking at for something like this?

I had 400sq ft laid for about $800 (I think).

That included them prepping the area, digging it out and laying.

I used MeanCo. Did a good job.

I didn't start this thread, but started a thread previous to this one. The lowest I have gotten is around $1400-$1500 for 300 SF.

550 square feet at 4 inches deep would run about 7 cubic yards of concrete. At say $110 a yard that is $770 plus labor. You could look at paying around $600 for finishing labor. All in all you could be out the door for $1800-2000.

550 SF at 4" thick would be about 7 yards of concrete. 3000 psi concrete usually goes for around 80 to 100 a yard depending on the area. Some flat work guys out of the back of a truck can do a solid job for you for between .50 to 1.00 a SF finishing plus concrete.

Probably about 1300 to 1600 would be expected price for it.

I run a small concrete company out of Alabama but that is what I would expect to see for quotes.

Please tell me you are joking about getting 3000 psi concrete for $80 a yard.

Those prices have not been seen since pre Katrina in the gulf south. Now if it's your Uncle Bubba that owns the plant or you're getting the concrete salesman laid that is a different story.

Expect to pay $95 per CY for 3000 psi ash concrete in the BR area. Small loads under 8 CY cost more.

If you're asking someone to turnkey 500 SF of patio you are likely to pay $4 per SF or more depending on the access to the pour.

I got a quote for doing a 7 yard pad at my neighbors shop this morning at 82 a yard for 3000 and 87 a yard on 4000 here.

I can agree with you on that. If the patio is a pain in the arse to get to and you have to use a trailer pump or wheelbarrow it around to it, expect to pay more for the finishing.

As for a parking pad, it all depends on the sub-base. if you have good dirt under, 4" is fine with some dummy joints to allow it to crack. If the dirt is pretty shitty underneath, better up it to 6" for regular use parking.

I know people who pay in the 70s per yard. If a new ready mix supplier tries to come to town it gets really ugly.

Your area must have readily available aggregate.

I'm not calling you a liar but there is not a chance in hell you are getting $82/CY 3000 psi concrete within batching distance of BR unless it is some kind of podnuh deal....

Dallas, but I haven't talked to him in about a year. Keep in mind he pours about 2-3k slabs per year. Also was paying 80s in BR. He was doing about 700 slabs in Louisiana.
