I said White and Veal are 2 of the best in the state.... which is true. I never said they are the top 2players in the state.

quote:

Belton, Patterson, Scott, Wallace all look better on tape.

Lindsey Scott and Wallace?

And remember, these kids are all just sophomores. By the time they are seniors, Patterson and Veal will be ahead of everyone else. And considering they already have the most impressive offer lists out of all those QBs, you can say they already are ahead of the others.

LINK

And, before that interview / camp ever took place rivals already had Veal with an LSU offer. So it couldnt have been from that interview.

I hear you KG5989. The Patterson kid has verified "Commitable" offers. Veal kid is going to be good. But the word is out on a number of recruiting boards concerning offers that have not actually taken place. Checkout the Texas 247board and others. Im just saying.

PS the "link" you posted, is a twitter post, which is dated the same date that veal reported the "offers" to rivals.

Notice that neither scout.com nor 247sports show veal with such an from LSU. Maybe one will be coming in the future. But it doesnt exist. I think the offer for 2016 is going to go a QB from a larger school. 1A football in Louisiana is just not enough of a test.

Yea... Mike S took that pic at the camp. And it doesnt say he just got the offer. It says Veal, LSU offer, arrived at camp.

There is an article on rivals that took place on 2/14 that says he has LSU offer, along with UT, Oregon, LA Tech, Hawaii, Georgia Tech, and Houston. Veal didnt report anything to rivals.

I have seen nothing confirmed that says he does not have an offer. Its all here say from people like us on a message board. Mike S, who covers LSU sports, has said he does have an LSU offer.

And just an FYI, there is no such thing as a "legit, committable" offer at this point for these kids. They are basically verbal offers. Just like verbal commits. The schools tell them that they are offering, but its just words until. Until they have the written offer with their name on it, it means nothing. And a player can not receive a written offer until August 1st of their senior season. So, none of these "offers for a 2016 kid, or 2015 for that matter, are committable offers.

And Veal is gonna be better than good. Hes only played football for 2 years, and this was just his 1st season at QB. Kid is gonna improve at a drastic rate by the time hes a senior.

1st off, we offer kids that play in 1A all the freaking time. Thats a dumb thing to say. 2nd off, Southern Lab played a lot of legit football schools last year. St Charles Catholic, U-High, Amite, Donaldsonville, Plaquemine, Patterson, Kentwood, Ouachita Christian. They dont just play shitty 1A teams.

2nd off, read what I posted about offers above. And, Mike S said he has an offer, his coach said he has an offer. He and Cameron are really tight. Been a few articles that say he has an offer. Youre going off of some sites that say he doesnt have an offer, Im going off of what another site says and what his coach said and what an LSU beat writer has said.

Didnt mean to offend. Im just saying that LSU does not have a history of offering nor signing 1A or 2A QBs.

Dude its easy to tell what the difference is between a committable offer vs non committable offer. And I dont think I asked what a committable / non committable offer was.

All I was saying was that until they get their written offer in their hand on August 1st of their senior year, all verbal offers mean absolutely nothing.

Didnt offend at all. Just that its a dumb thing to say. Its not like it was 20 years ago when the bigger schools got the best players. Players are found all throughout the state in every classification.

I was able to find that Rivals article.

This a quote from it:

Coach Mitchell (SULAB)

"He went from not throwing a touchdown in the spring game to over 20 for the season and that was a joy to see," Mitchell said. "He improved his knowledge of the system and it helped him to have five very good receivers."

When Southern Lab hosted its second-round playoff game against Delhi Charter there was one particularly interested bystander on the sideline - LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron - to get a closer look at Veal and lay the foundation of a relationship between the two.

ACCORDING TO MITCHELL, Cameron was the first BCS college assistant to visit Southern Lab's campus and made his intentions known he liked Veal's ability and WANTED TO OFFER.
-----
Again, no one from LSU to date has confirmed that an offer was made. Im wishing Veal the best of luck. As it stands Louisiana DOES NOT have a 2016 kid offered yet. But its still early.

I was just saying that committable and non committable has nothing to do with anything in writing. 20 years ago, the best players COULD be found in 1A. You could make the argument that 1A was more competitive. SULAB had some of the best in the country. Nate Harrison and Baron Jackson (who set National High School records) to name two.

Its not a dumb statement. Im not talking about other positions. At the QB position, you just dont see 1A QBs going to major BCS programs. Thats a FACT.

And right above that, it says this:
quote:

In one season Veal made the leap from freshman wide receiver to starting quarterback, leading Southern Lab to the Division IV state semifinals and now counts overtures from LSU, Oregon, Texas, Houston, Georgia Tech, Louisiana Tech and Howard.

And says on his page, he was offered. And an LSU beat writer tweeted out he has an offer. Until its confirmed by someone that covers LSU sports / recruiting, i am thinking he has an offer.

And that was what Cameron told their coach after the 1st time seeing Veal play in person. He was the 1st person on their campus and made it known he wanted to offer Veal, the 1st time being there. Thats what he said after the playoff game in December. And then in Feb, it says he now has an offer. Could have been offered between then.

And, once again, every type of offer is a verbal offer for these kids.

Lol!!! I hear you man. Sounds like we are both Tiger enthusiast.

Show up at my camp. Continue to develop and we will offer = NON-committable offer = conditioned upon something.

WE ARE OFFERING YOU = Committable offer (verbal).

The kid will probably show up at camp this summer. Do well. And get offered. At this point, he has not been offered.

Heck I hope he throws for 5000 yards, runs a 4.2 40 and re-writes the SEC record books. Geaux Tigers. But right now, he has not been offered.

And you have nothing to confirm this. An LSU beat writer said he does have an offer. Until someone in the biz confirms he does not have an offer, he has 1 in my book.

Dude I have no idea why you keep bringing up committable and non committable offer. I havent said anything about that. I know what they are. And have not said anything about them. All offers at this point are verbal and mean nothing, regardless if they are committable or non committable. So please, no need to lecture on committable / non committable.

And earlier you laughed when I said White and Veal are 2 of the top prospects in the state, like its understood they arent major recruits. And then said that Belton, Patterson, Scott and Wallace ALL look better on tape. Which is just ridiculous. What do you have against Veal?

Nothing against Veal. White is definitely a top prospect. And Im just an enthusiast. Got an opinion like any fan.

My opinion is that he is not a "top prospect". We see it differently. I watch the film. I check the record. I look at the opponents. People in the Baton Rouge area have told me that he wasn't even the best 2016 QB in that area. Just my opinion. I want to get the best available for LSU. The fact that he played 3A and 4A school doesnt go far with me, when he lost to them all.

No lecture on committable or noncommittable. You keep suggesting that im talking about verbal or non verbal. Thats not what I mean. But its all good.

Well I'm not sure who is a better 2016 QB prospect in the BR area than Veal. And I live in BR. But, it was his 1st year playing QB and only his 2nd year playing football. Ge def had some tough moments. But look how he played down the stretch. He led southern lab to the semis. Watch how much he improves in the next year. He has all the tools you want in a QB and then some. He's an amazing athlete.

He is a top prospect. In both football and basketball. I don't know how someone can watch his film and say they aren't impressed. And it's even more impressive for a kid playing football for just his 2nd year. And his 1st at QB.

Ive been watching this a long time. Ive seen his huddle. Not bad stuff. Lindsey Scott and Zachary, is flat out a better quarterback. Ill keep an eye out. Would like to see the SULAB kid(his team) actually beat some of those quality teams (3A 4A 5A). We will have to see.

John Broussard, top rated CB, currently in AL but originally from Laffayette. Just another 5-star to keep an eye on for 2016.
