He was in John Carter. Hasn't been seen since. Disney may have had him killed.

Wasn't he in Battleship?

Kitsch was actually perfect, too bad he had a crappy script to work with (and a terrible production team).

Tatum isn't a bad choice, really. I'd actually take a look at Jared Leto too.

But given what DOFP looks to have done, my faith in a good interpretation of Gambit is rather slim.

Plus, because Gambit is so iconic, I'd rather them take a shot at Cannonball, Psylocke, Karma or Forge.

That was the worst cajun accent I've ever heard. Seems like someone on set would've told him how bad it was.

Edit: I was just starting to like Channing Tatum since he started doing comedic roles. If he ruins Gambit for me, we can never be friends.

The voice actor for the cartoons was so good that any variation to his accent is a travesty. The Friday Night Lights guy's accent was on par with True Blood in terms of bad.

I didn't realize Gambit might be in Apocalypse. About fricking time they bring in one of the GOAT X-men

I've thought since Lost that Josh Holloway would be a great choice, but Tatum might not be bad either as long as he can pull off the accent.

He was the second star in Lone Survivor which was pretty damn successful, both critically and commercially. He was also in Savages the same year he was in John Carter, though it underperformed.

He's currently set to star in an animated film called Almost Heroes 3D and in the HBO film The Normal Heart which looks fantastic. The Normal Heart also stars Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, Matt Bomer, and Jim Parsons.

He's also in an indie comedy with Brendan Gleeson called the Grand Seduction.

His career took a hit, but he's still viable.

I'm not familiar at all with the comics, but I liked him a lot in the Wolverine movie. I thought he did a fine job for someone who flicks magic cards at people and can fly using his bowstaff (again, my limited comic knowledge).

That is quite possibly the worst description of Gambit I've ever heard.
You are excused as a non comic reader but I think you are an excellent example on how they failed with the character.

But at the same time, it shows you how well they did because, as a comic nonreader, the character was still pretty accessible for me.

And how far off is my description from the character really, especially considering that it was basically a bit part in a movie about Wolverine...

From Wiki:
quote:

A mutant, Gambit can mentally create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his every whim and desire. He is also incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in card-throwing, hand-to-hand combat, and the use of a bo.

I feel like I wasn't too far off.
