I think we all are surprised with what type of player he is in the NBA, as a rookie. And how he is doing it as well. He is WAYYY more athletic than anyone realized while he was in college.

Hes 7'0 with shoes on, 238lbs with only 6.2% body fat. And has a good vert for a big (max vert of 36inches). And can get up and down the court very well for a big.

Stat wise, no hes not dominating. Only averaging 7.3ppg and 4.3 rebs on the season. But, thats in 18 minutes per game. When he gets legit minutes, he puts up legit #s. His PER this year is 18.85, which will have him in the top 15 for Centers. And his PER36 stats are 14.6ppg, 8.6 rebs while shooting 66% from the field, and 1.6blocks and 1.4 steals per game. Pretty solid.

Shaq and a lot of analysts think he can become a star in the league. I dont think he will become "the guy" for a team in the NBA. But I def think he can become a very good 2 way post player in the league. I think he can become a Tyson Chandler -esque type of player. Great size and athleticism and can run. Brings a lot of energy to the face. Not as good on defense as Chandler, but has a little more offensive game.

He can play the PF position. If Brook Lopez can ever stay healthy, the duo of Lopez + Mason Plumlee would become a very good and dominant force in the league.

Hes been the surprise of the draft IMO. So what kind of player do you think Mason Plumlee can become? And who would you compare him too??

Top 15 center probably with a chance to become a top 20 overall big man (including PFs) if he continues to improve and stays healthy.

Plumlee had to deal with Chandler Parsons syndrome. Athletic but white, so nobody thinks you're athletic, and a great college coach, so everyone thinks you've hit your ceiling.

I think he is very solid, but he may max out as a pretty good center that isn't a household name:

Marcin Gortat, Omer Asik, Nikola Pekovic.

I would still take Enes Kanter over him.

He's a surprisingly athletic guy with a high basketball IQ and a gym rat mentality.

His upside is Detlef Schrempf

a 12/10 guy at best. No offensive game, but will clean up around the rim with his energy and athleticism.

Nothing similar to Noah

Doesnt have near the skill. Noah can dribble, pass, defend the perimeter, etc at a very high level. Only thing similar with Noah and Plumlee is that they are big guys that are athletic.

And Lester... I think he will be better than 12ppg. Not saying he will average 20ppg, but I think he will become a guy that scores 15ppg at an efficient rate. His PER36 stats right now are right around 15 and 9. Scores 7.3ppg in 18mpg right now.

everybody thought he was athletic, that was always listed as his biggest strength. the knocks were strength, toughness and questionable upside.

he's a better FT shooting Andris Biedrins or maybe another Tyson Chandler imo.

If people didn't know he was this athletic, then they didn't watch him in college. All three Plumlees are incredibly athletic. He has Tyson Chandler upside. What people don't know is that he has range and can make a three as well. I'm not sure they'll let him take those shots though.

His athleticism isn't surprising. Everyone who saw the 2009 Mcdonalds AA dunk contest knew about how athletic MP is.

but with more minutes, his FG% should even out, imo

Thank god you listed his body fat. I can now accurately say he will be a very serviceable nba player for 10+ years

Kidd told him he wouldn't be taking any shots outside the lane this year. said they'll work on expanding his offensive game out to the perimeter this summer. he really landed in a great situation with the Nets, having KG and Lopez to learn from.

if you don't think being in shape is helpful, then you clearly were never an athlete
