Malvo definitely had some supernatural stuff purposely hinted at. I seriously thought he was about to get up and own Gus after taking those bullets to the chest. I think it's all part of the "tall tale" aspect of the Fargo world.

What a miniseries though. Part of me wishes we would have found out more about Malvo, but then I think that makes him more of an enigma.

Somebody already mentioned it but they better knock next season's casting out the park or it doesn't have a chance of equalling season 1 no matter how good the script is.

Malvo's a force of nature, giving him a hackneyed backstory would completely diminish his mystique.

been watching the series on on demand for the last couple of days. It was great, the only way the ending could have been better was if Lester had died slowly burning in a car crash.

I thought it was well done, but I would've liked to have seen an ending that wasn't so cupcake. I felt like there was an opportunity to not have such a "happily ever after" ending. I felt the same way about True Detective. Both of these shows were great and well done, though.

That was my issue... IMO, it just didn't fit

I was predicting an injury to Molly or her unborn baby, that's how sick Malvo was

In my opinion it's the opposite. I feel like the ending fit very well. Before Malvo shows up, every one is just living their normal ordinary life in Minnesota. Then he comes in and all chaos ensues. His ending was on its way, and there was no way Lester was going to make it through that show without dying or jail. After all that happens, it simply ends with every one just living their normal ordinary life in Minnesota watching some game show on tv.

The tone wasn't meant to be True Detective or Breaking Bad, I feel it's a fitting ending for a crime/dark comedy.

I see your point. One thing I did like was the fact that Gus redeemed himself for letting Malvo go earlier in the show. It's pretty dark for someone that's as by-the-book as him to shoot someone like that. I didn't mind Lester getting caught. I just felt that too many "good" guys won in the end.

Here is a really good interview with Fargo's creator: LINK

I'm not so sure we will see a season 2.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he waited a couple of years to come up with a new story. I feel the same way about True Detective. I see these as long movies more than TV shows. Focus on a good story. Don't rush it.

Somebody should come up with a gif of Billy Bob getting shot with the first set of bullets and then popping back up

I wonder if next season's gonna start with Molly as Chief and a follow up on Chazz and Milos, etc?

Listened to an interview with Noah Hawley and Allison Tolman yesterday on NPR's Fresh Air (It should be archived on the Fresh Air site by now if interested). Hawley was pretty much against using the same characters again, so I doubt that we will see them again in any meaningful way. The next story could be set in an entirely different time period.

Meh, but it was so "cookie cutter" I would have liked to have seen him kill off Hanks after being shot and then proceeding to the deputies house to exact revenge on the family only for old man to gun him down.

The story could focus on the massacre that happened years prior (was it Sioux Falls?). They continually made reference to it as being as nasty and criminal as they come.

I'm with you. It felt like the finale needed to be an hour longer to extend the demises of Malvo and Lester. And I'm really surprised one of Molly's inner circle didn't catch a bullet somewhere over this last one.

That said, great-great show.

That bear trap was fricking awesome!!

The series creator wanted to mirror the Fargo film. He wanted this to be a singular series of events in their lives, not an ongoing saga with the heroes ending up in prison. The point was to have everyone return to their normal lives.

But maybe the same characters playing different roles? (Except BBT, who's already said he's not in season 2)
