I've had some that were only a 4 minute 4 wheeler ride from where you park, and I've had some that were a 45 minute boat ride through a marsh.

So, it varies.

I've pass shot wood ducks in a slough within 15 yards of a camp before.

I mean if they want to land in the camp yard you can bet your arse that is where I'm gonna hunt. Have shot many ducks so close to grain bins you could here the BB's landing on the silos.

that had to be awesome. wake up 15 mins before shooting hours, put biscuits & coffee on. shoot fly-bys. breast out, wrap in bacon. voila: bacon wrapped duck breast and biscuits for breakfast.

We are about a 10-12min boat ride from out first 2 blinds... Another 3-5min to the next set and we are getting in another lease about 20min total out from the camp. Have a pretty sweet set up with it being so close. On the other hand... About. 30-40min ride to the other blinds which seem to be good producers early...

I've hunted close enough to a little country blacktop that we had to watch our fire when there was a car coming. lol.

I guess to answer the question, distance doesn't matter.

Are there ducks there? That's the more important question...

From camp a couple of miles, from the road it's about .5 miles.

Our blind is a 7 minute walk from the dirt road we park on.

Edit: 45 minute drive from the house

Man, i would love to do hunting like that. im stuck on a WMA that has people try to get in your spot when you go to pick up ducks, or hurry and sneak in while youre setting decoys out... or setting up 20 yards away and sky blasting

i feel your pain. still, i feel pretty damned satisfied when i have a good day on public land. more so than i would feel if i had a good day on a rice field. but there's definitely room in the world for both kinds.
