How does dexter rank with the tv board? I started the series a few months ago, and really enjoy it. One season with the chick from Bourne identitiy was lame, but overall I'm liking it

So disappointed in where this show ultimately went. I know everything can't last forever, but they tried to make Dexter human too fast. It didn't work, and the results were tragic.

I watched the first 5 seasons in order when they aired, then quit. Saw a real police show, The Wire, then went back and watched the last 3 seasons of Dexter this year. It was hilariously pathetic.

I stuck with it to the end, unfortunately. I can go back and watch the first season and still holds its own as far as story and production, but it starts to unravel pretty quick. Seems like it never recovered from the writer's strike.

I think through 4 seasons it is up there as one of the better series I've seen. I almost threw my laptop across the room in shock/anger/disbelief after the Season 4 finale.
It fell off pretty hard after that. It probably should have only gone 5 seasons, with the 5th being him going crazy after his world collapsed and getting caught or dying or something

I both envy you, and feel really bad for you. Seasons 1-4 were excellent, with S4 being one of the best seasons of TV I've ever watched. 5-8 weren't even close, and the last few were almost indescribably bad. The last season was insultingly terrible. I would rank them

The finale was so horrifically bad that it has tainted the entire series for me, and I can no longer enjoy the firsts several seasons.
Also...it was REALLY hurt that it had the bad luck of finishing it's run at the same time as Breaking Bad, which was so well done.
