Is a bowflex any good?

Anyone with experience? Used to be a hardcore lifter and builder. Don't really like the gym thing anymore and would rather train at home. I have Olympic weight set, rack, dumbbells etc. but I really like the streamlined function of the bowflex.

But I have no idea if it's worth the investment. I have always used free weight and am not very big on resistance bands.

But if it works, I'm willing to make the trade off.

Worth it?

Don't know yet

Don't care about the price if it works.

The upper models are and are really nice... that said you need to have discipline to work out at home

We had one as kids. It was huge. I don't know how much has changed.

I haven't personally used one, but I can't see how the resistance can possibly be constant across the entire range of motion of the machine....

and, I hear they are expensive as hell...

The first part of your statement was very useful. The second part...not so much. I carry a whip around this mother fricker. I'm fricking loaded with discipline.

It's not bad.. Added 100lbs of extra weight to it but I don't like having to change the cables around

Thanks for the offer. If I get one, I would like it shiny and new. Plus they do payment plans and they'll put it together.

Never know though, here is my email, give me a pic and a price.

Changing cables can't be near as bad as changing weights on a dumbbell. That shite is frustrating as hell...especially with super sets.

Want the twist and lock dumbbells, but they only go up to 60#s and there ridiculously expensive.

You'd get better results for a fraction of the price with P90X. Hell you could buy all 3 plus insanity and T25 and still save a lot of money.

Why don't you try P90X3 or T-25?

Or, Body Beast.

There's your answer. It will be taking up space and gathering dust within two months of purchase.

Got it. Will take a pic in the morning when there's more light coming into the back room and send it to you. Its the ultimate 2 and have all the attachments. Always been inside, no rust.

I am willing to go the resistance route...over the years I have just about destroyed my shoulders and knees. I switched to dumbbells exclusively about 5 years ago and that helped in that my joints didn't get worse.

The bowflex I just looked at that I want is 3k. I keep looking at it wondering what the heck cost 3k on that thing.

There is the other model for 1,500, but still. Anyway, if I could do squats, rows, cable flys, pull downs, delt pulls etc. and keep it all in one area it might be worth it. Trying to figure out how the heck you could do shrugs on it though.

I had one in my early 20s. I've never been so sore after a workout in my life. I joined the Air Force when I was 26 and go to the gym 3 times a week for free.

I'd love to get another one but they are expensive as hell. It didn't wreak havoc on my joints like weights do. I added the extra rods for an additional "200 pounds."

I miss it.
