Quarterback guru George Whitfield says LSU freshman quarterback Brandon Harris reminds him of Heisman Trophy winner Jamies Winston. In an interview with Geaux247, Whitfield went on to say that LSU is now on the shortlist of top programs in the country when it comes to recruiting elite quarterbacks each year.

Great, more pressure and more unrealistic expectations for LSU fans to put on Harris.

What else is he going to tell 247?

"Jump on it,” Whitfield responded when asked what he would tell his young quarterbacks if they received an offer from Cameron and LSU. "This, to me, is one of the top destination spots now,” he said. "If I am a big-time high school quarterback with aspirations of playing in the NFL, and I want to win in college, this is one of those places on one hand now that you are going to find, and they will be for some time. "The recruiting is going to shut it down. Most of the time, your big golden boys will float to Michigan or Southern California or Stanford. The bayou, that’s going to be interesting. You have all these big dudes blocking for you and all these jack rabbits in the huddle running. Then you have a defense like that?"

Why would any of you be negative about an article like this? This is GREAT publicity for the program at the ONE POSITION LSU has not been consistently good at.

I don't care if Kermit the Frog said it! It is positive press for LSU.

Harris? I get what you're trying to say but if you watched the Spring Game at all you'd see that's not even close to being true.

So what? Every young QB with promise at every major university deals with the same crap. Even the crappy QB's with no expectations at all would get eaten alive at a big time football university! If he is the real deal, he will be able to handle the pressure. He has had a pretty darn good upbringing.

How do you think BH would feel if the fans were not expecting anything from him? A great QB will embrace the pressure, and he has the head to play through it.

He started slow and had quite a few drops, and keep in mind that 2 or 3 of his best receivers are not even on campus yet.

There was still pass rush, and you know LE that Les won't show the real offense. They were probably running plays that they worked on the least amount of time, IMO. Was Harris under center most of the spring game? Because neither he or Jennings will be during the season.

I get what your saying. There is going to be room for doubt with any freshman that hasn't taken a single snap of college football yet, but having a QB guru show such high praise can't help but motivate me. The guy has seen him up close and personal. I don't see why he would give Harris and LSU such high praise at the risk of hurting his own reputation. Let's say that JJ or JL had gone to train under Whitfield... do you honestly believe that he would have given the same rave report? LOL

As far as the practices go, maybe Miles just doesn't want to show his hand. Why would you want Wisconsin to know you have a Freshman phenom QB? They may only release the worst of Harris. I know-I know, that is a stretch, but I've heard of coaches doing much crazier. This IS Les we are talking about.

Based on what I have seen of BH personally, he is very raw, but there is NO DOUBT in my mind that he has the IT factor that can be a game changer for LSU. CC is the perfect QB coach to help him hone his skills.

Trust me, man, we struck oil with BH!

He struggled with accuracy. Stats and actually watching him overthrow wide open receivers in the Spring Game show that to be true. There were drops, but there just as many overthrows. Not being negative, stating what happened.

Overthrows are fixable.
