How to prepare a new crawfish pot

So I just opened up a new pot.i rinsed it but do I need to do anything else like boil some water before I use it?

Boil crawfish in it. Hot enough to kill anything thats in it.

I only ask because I saw something online that said you should boil water in it. For30 minutes but I wasn't sure if that was necessary.

Aluminum or stainless? If aluminum, it might oxidize a bit and your crawfish might be metal tasting.

Boil water in it first. I did and had some aluminum flakes or something floating around when I was done. Don't want that in your crawfish.
