My plans were ruined. Yesterday I saw that Albertson's had large frozen shrimp on sale. Ten bucks off the bag's normal price. So I made plans to do a shrimp stir fry to have while watching the Masters.
Went to Albertsons this morning and the sale was over. It was $25 for a 2 lb bag. When you discount the weight of the shells and the ice that's about 25 for 1 lb of shrimp. Decided to go with thin pork loin. Will cut and stir fry with veggies and sweet/hot Chinese sauce.

Probably some chicken, asparagus (YAY IN SEASON), and roasted tomatoes on the grill. Trying to get back on track after eating a little bit of everything around town over spring break.

A month ago or so, there was a pimento cheese thread and people were talking about jalepeno going in it.

I gave the jalepeno a good mince before I added it in. It was a good move. This stuff has the flav.

Thanks y'all.

Very hard. The shrimp in the deli section of any grocery is just previously frozen shrimp. Once in a while you'll see something labeled 'not frozen' but it's rare and it doesn't look very good.

Now catfish is a different issue. You can get fresh catfish anywhere.

I seasoned some jerk chicken, going to grill that up later with some squash and asparagus and eggplant. The produce at Rouse's last night was really pretty. Deciding whether to have beer or wine today.

You would think the Shreveport area would have fresh seafood market. Monroe has a nice one.

Maxwell's is the best market up here and fresh large shrimp are about 20 bucks a pound. Since catfish are raised on farms it's easy to get them fresh at a reasonable price.

BTW, the thin cut pork loin that I'm using for the stir fry today was only $4 a pound. Pork is beating beef prices recently.

Damn. I guess I need to invest in some ice chests and start making weekly treks up I49. Who knew a 4 hour drive equaled a 400% markup?
