Tensions were high following Barcelona’s shock defeat to Granada on Saturday night, and the Azulgrana squad were welcomed with shouts of abuse by fans as they arrived at the Camp Nou. “You should be ashamed”, “Motherfu...” and “You’re just thinking about the World Cup”, were just some of the accusations that could be heard levelled at the Barça squad as they arrived just after 00.30.

Neymar was racially abused, while Pinto was at the centre of the insults (“Get out of Barça now you w…” The scenes were reminiscent of recent events following their elimination from the Champions League: “Ridiculous. Get out of here, you first Zubi” could be heard shouted by one indignant fan.

The culé players were taken back to the Camp Nou to pick up their cars and personal belongings after slumping to defeat in Los Cármenes. They were also greeted by the same group of fans as they left. Jordi Roura, a member of the technical staff, stopped his car to dry and defuse the situation, as did Mascherano.
