What are the boards thoughts on this movie, I know it has gotten very high praise from the critics I think 95+ on Rotten Tomatoes. I went into this movie with high expectations like I normally do with Coen Bros movies, but this movie wasn't as good as the other Coen's movies. I would probably rank this near the bottom of their corpus of movies. It had its great moments sure but I feel like nothing happened significant or there wasn't much to keep the view really engaged in the movie. I don't mind the melancholy aspects of the movie, I don't mind that he never has anything go his way, it just didn't seem like anything big enough happened for me really to enjoy it. I would say though that the slowness of the plot is the only negative about this movie. Everything else is good, the awkwardness of the family with the cat is so great. Actually the best part of the movie is how the cat interrupted the plot at times. It seems like the cat played a huge role in this movie. ****spioler**** I thought he might fall asleep at the wheel and he almost ran over a cat, in the middle of talking about his crazy relationship with the main women character in the movie he sees the cat he is looking for. When he get's back from chicago they found the missing cat. I thought it was very clever that the Cat played an important role in this movie. (which I believe is a brilliant move on the Coen's part.)

anyway overall I thought the movie was decent, it was a typical Coen bros movie but it wasn't one of their better ones. Even though this wasn't one of their better ones it is still clear that they are in a different class of film making then most of hollywood, I would enjoy this movie more than 95% of movies I could watch.

so I think a 7.5/10 for me on this movie.

Note: I did a search no-one on here has talked in depth about this movie.

"Where's his scrotum?!"

I liked it. Good music, witty dialogue, symbolism, Coen characters. The usual good stuff. Some dark humor. It reminded me a lot of A Serious Man, being that the main character can't seem to catch a break, but both movies had a different agenda in regards to using such constant misfortune.
I can easily see it getting better after multiple viewings.

I liked it pretty well. It and Nebraska are two of my favorites from last year. For some reason Llewyn Davis worked for me a lot better than A Serious Man which I really didn't care for. It seemed like it had more Coen weirdness. The cat was great. John Goodman scenes were fun. Good performances, great music. The Dylan reference at the end was good as was the use of Sam Elliot as a twist on Lebowski.
Overall it was a slightly above average Coen brothers movie for me.
