I have a feeling we'll get a top 3 pick in the draft.

I think if we end up with the 8th or 9th worst record, the nba will give us a pick. I CAN FEEL IT . BOOKMARK FOR L8ER. #AllinforJabari

They may get a top 3 pick, but the NBA won't be giving anyone that pick. It is assigned via a random process. Thinking otherwise arises out of ignorance of the procedure.

Pardon my ignorance, but how is it already determined that we cannot end up with the 4th or 5th pick?

The lottery is to "win" a top 3 pick, with all of the non playoff teams having a chance, and those chances decrease as winning percentage increases, ie; the first team out of the playoff has the worst odds at winning one of the top 3. Afyer the top 3 is decided, picks 4-14 are assigned in descending order based on record, after removing the lottery winners.
Therefore, to get picks 4-5, we would have had to be one of the bottom 5 teams. A max of 3 teams could theoretically jump the worst record, so the worst puck the worst record could have is the 4th pick, and so on.

I actually could see the NBA helping us out a little bit after the whole CP3 vetoed trade and the NBA owning the team for a little while. I mean look at what the trade would have been if CP3 went to the Lakers and what we ended up getting. We would have received Dragic, Kevin Martin, Scola, and Odom. And who care about Odom? Dragic, Martin, and Scola are 3 good players, with Dragic being a really good player.
Instead, we got injury plagued and over rated Eric Gordon, Aminu
, and Chris Kaman, with the TWolves 2012 1st round pick.
Yeah we still ended up getting Anthony Davis, praise The Lord, but the league still screwed us on that vetoed trade. And the lottery is somewhat rigged. The Bulls had 1.7% chance of getting the #1 pick in the draft. The #1 pick in the draft just happened to be Derrick Rose, born and raised in Chicago. The Bulls are 1 of the most storied franchises in NBA history and were struggling. The league needs certain teams to be good, and the Bulls are 1 of them. So what happens? The Bulls miraculously get the #1 pick, take the local boy in Derrick Rose, and become 1 of the better teams in the league.
The odds are against us to get it, sure. But crazier things have happened in the lottery.
