My wife took me fishing today. Tried for some Sac au lait, wasn't happening. Have a hole that I knew that would produce a few cats. On the way up, blew out a trailer tire. New one at that. Of course the wife loaded everything and of course she forgot the spare. Good thing was we were just a couple miles from my SIN's house and he brought us one.

Back to the fishing. Stopped on the way up to dip for a few crawfish. With that and some red worms, we caught 8 nice size cats, 3 goo's and a good buzz and sun rays. Talked to a nephew that was running some trotlines. He wasn't doing all that good. The water is cold.

Sounds like a great day on the water.
How was the clarity of the water?

My grandpaw is up there piddling at the camp. I thought about taking a trip up there this weekend and trying to fish but decided against it.

Water was clear were we fished.

Camp grass was cut. Just wasn't up to spending the night.

Gotta love Old River. Family camp there for fifty years. Quiet and laid back. Only negative is dealing with the spring river rise but that is one probably the reason more people don't go there which makes it what it is.

Where is old river? I hear of a couple different places being referred to as old river.

I think they are talking about old river as in the oxbow lake north of new roads. Until this thread I always thought people were referring to the old river south of merryville

Old river the oxbow lake about 20 miles north of False River on LA 1. Right after the Morganza Spillway on the right.. About 60 miles north of BR.

Sounds like a good day. But I don't understand leaving the responsibility of loading a spare to a woman.

Then again I don't understand having to load a spare up to go. Shouldn't it stay with the trailer?

When you don't use a boat in over a year, there is no reason to let the sun dry rot a good tire.

And yes, I do have a good wife. Been together going on 34 years.
