Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth will propel the development of human civilization beyond the traditional timeline of a Civilization game, by exploring humanity’s future on an alien world. For the first time, players will lead factions divided by contrasting cultures and evolve their new civilizations to reflect their chosen destiny. Players will experience an array of new gameplay possibilities, including nonlinear technological progression, deeper customization of chosen factions, and an entire alien world that will change the very identity of each faction based on their choices.
quote:
• Seed the Adventure: Players will establish a cultural identity, select a leader and sponsor an expedition by assembling the spacecraft, cargo and colonists through a series of choices that directly impact starting conditions when arriving on the new alien planet.
• Alien World: Exploring the benefits and dangers of a new planet filled with dangerous terrain, mystical resources and hostile lifeforms unlike those of Earth, players will build outposts, unearth ancient alien relics, tame new forms of life, develop flourishing cities and establish trade routes to create prosperity for their people.
• New Technology Web: Reflecting forward progress in an uncertain future, technology advancement will occur through a series of nonlinear choices that affect the development of mankind. The tech web is organized around three broad themes, each with a distinct victory condition.
• New Quest System: Quests are infused with fiction about the planet, and will help guide players through a series of side missions that will aid in the collection of resources, upgrading units, and advancing through the game.
• New Orbital Layer: Players will build and deploy advanced military, economic and scientific satellites that provide strategic offensive, defensive and support capabilities from orbit.

Do not want. Just do what's right and make Civilization 6 as it was meant to be. I have just never enjoyed the "space" take on these games.

This article from Gamespot provides a few more details.
Five victory conditions -
Five victory conditions -
quote:
Harmony: awaken a semi-sentient super organism within the planet and reach a new level of consciousness
Purity: terraform the alien planet into a mirror of Earth and relocate Earth’s populace to this new Eden
Supremacy: embrace cybernetic augmentation, then return to Earth and "free" the people from their bodies
Contact: discover evidence of intelligent life and construct a means to establish first contact
Domination: actually, domination is the same as in every other Civilization
quote:
Before you land on a new planet and start shaping humanity’s destiny, you must first equip your expedition. Referred to as "the seeding," this is an expanded version of your civilization selection in previous games. In Beyond Earth, not only do you choose which faction (read: civilization) to play, but also which spacecraft to take, what cargo to carry, who to bring, and the type of planet you want to inhabit. Each selection you make will greatly impact the start of your game: you could carry high-quality cargo that grants additional funds up-front, for instance, or hard-working, production-oriented colonists who build structures faster.

Meh, I thought that at first but civ has been relatively similar since the first one. I think it'll be a nice change

So... finally a remake of alpha centauri?

Guys, this is the spiritual sequel to Alpha Centauri, perhaps the greatest Civilization game of all time.

Yeah. Between mods, G&K and BNW, there isn't much to add. I'm not sure they could justify a new game at this point.
This will be a nice change of pace.

If they'll allow me to occasionally play as Mongolia and some Keshiks in Space shite, I'll be their biggest fan. I mean, I'm not going to lie to the board or myself and say that I won't spend hours upon hours playing it. I'm just not sure how I feel about it at the moment.

shite, how awesome would it be to be able to travel from earth to space. Combine civ 5 and this... Epic space wars

Still break that game out every now and then. Love nuking cities and pissing people off.

I was more excited than I should have been when I read news of this game yesterday.
