Hey all,

I am going to New Orleans next week and trying to finalize our places to visit and eat. We will be getting in late Friday night and flying out late Tuesday afternoon.

These are some places I've heard good things about so let me know what you think or if I am missing something. Overall I just want to take in as much Southern southern culture as possible.

Crawfish (Never had it before)
BEVI SEAFOOD CO.
Seither's Seafood

Brewery
NOLA Brewing (wasn't sure if there was anything better around)

Easter Sunday Brunch (and Regular Brunch)
MAUREPAS FOODS
STANLEY
BROUSSARD'S
TABLEAU

Lunch Spots
THE JOINT
Willie Mae's Scotch House
Central Grocery
Café Reconcile
Casamento's Restaurant
Drago's

Dinner
Cochon
HIGH HAT
Three Muses

Sorry for the long list, but again let me know what you think. Thanks!

He should also add Madigan's.

Don't do Stanley.
Don't do three muses as dinner. DO go to Three Muses after dinner for cocktails and to see music (and maybe order a desert).

Is Commander's Palace open for Brunch on Easter Sunday?

If it is do that instead of whatever you had planned.

I've had multiple people who worked there tell me it would be in my best interest to never eat there again.

Even before that, it was overpriced for what you get, not to mention slapping American cheese on everything is revolting

I've never had a dish with American cheese.

You might want to not eat out all together then

Commander's Palace is completely booked for Easter, so what would be another solid Easter Brunch Option?

We are staying at the Omni Crescent Hotel (so fairly close to the French Quarter) and will likely have a Rental Car. Thanks for all the replies!

For me it's commander's palace or nothing.

Maybe Café Amelie or Court of Two Sisters. Others will chime in on Brunch options and pay attention to what they say.

However, Make a point of including Commander's Palace in your meal plans. Then you can say you have eaten there and actually have the pleasure of having actually eaten there. Landmark Restaurant with very good food and excellent service.

I'd do La Petit Grocery once if I could. I like that place.

Other good places that haven't been mentioned yet.

Paul Prudhomme's
Mr. B's
John Besh's August

Check out Cafe Amelie for Easter brunch. Atchafalaya and La Petite Grocery are both very good places, for either dinner or brunch.

Really solid choices. Definitely try and hit up Casamento's. Also throw Cochon Butcher into the mix.

Great casual dinner spots.

La Petite Grocery and Patois both have excellent brunches. You could also try Galatoire's (reservations upstairs, downstairs first come first serve). You want to sit downstairs. Galatoire's Easter is very popular, but if you were to roll in around 2 pm (men need a coat, but they have loaners) you could probably get a table easily. Easter parades pass right in front, its a raucous scene.

This would allow you to have a more leisurely morning - midday without having to worry about your reservation. Maybe grab some beignets around 10, walk around the quarter, hit mass or whatever, grab a few drinks and then head in for lunch at 2.

Drinks, souffle potatoes, Goute (shrimp remoulade, crabmeat maison) add oysters brochette, oysters rockefeller. More drinks, maybe a piece of trout with some crabmeat, an egg dish, or lamb chops with bernaise. Wine.

Guilty as charged. Eater is a pretty solid place to find great food in other towns.

Amelie's is looking like our Saturday Brunch spot as the location looks amazing. Unfortunately the weather forecast doesn't look very good for outdoor seating.

Absolutely will.

Also is there any particular spot to go for beignets or will any decent restaurant have a good version?

Slightly off-topic for food discussion but are there any good nature hikes fairly close to town? We were considering doing a canoe tour of the Manchac Swamp but wasn't sure if anything would be better.
