Up 30-40 cents a gallon in Alabama over the past 2 weeks.

Which is a 10-15 percent increase.

No one's pay goes up that much. Everywhere you go costs 10-15 percent more.

Those costs get factored in and passed on or that amount gets added to monthly bills.

Anyone talking about this? Any comment at all from our politicians? Media stories about how it is hurting middle class families? Stories about how Administration policies create a climate for high gas prices? How the evil oil companies profit off of regular Americans? War on the Middle Class? Speeches from Congressmen from the floor about the burden we are placing on families? Marches in the streets? Seems like a rather dramatic rise for something that everyone needs/uses.

I guess that Bush is getting wealthy with his oil buddies again. The influence of that guy is unreal ...

Gas prices reached their peak in 2008 at just over 4$ a gallon. People will start talking about the issue again when prices hit that level.

I will consider gas prices too high until they get back closer to $2.

Considering the amount of work that goes into drilling for oil, shipping that oil, refining it, and then shipping that product to gas station a quarter of a mile from my house, 3 bucks a gallon seems like a steal.

Forget 2008, my current gas price is over $4/gallon.

Was this not the same case 20 years ago when it was less than $1/ gallon?

I would be ok with anything <$3. If they said gas will be $3 flat for the next 5 years, I could live with it.

Sure, but general inflation and increased worldwide demand affect pricing.

Shall we compare US gas prices to those of every other Western country?

I don't see where that is relevant being that we aren't living in another country.

You don't think a proper frame of reference will provide some perspective?

Wonder if that's a state or regional thing. Gasoline prices in NH have gone up by only $0.009 per gallon in the past month.

"Including the change in gas prices in New Hampshire during the past week, prices Sunday were 3.6 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 0.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. "

Ok but only oil producing countries. Would be interested to see where we fall.

It is being blamed on the change over from winter to summer gas. We're actually in a shortage situation in Alabama at the moment, we're only allowed a little better than half the usual allocation of normal. Pipeline normally ships in on a 5 day schedule, so it is probably on a 9 day schedule atm while the refineries scale back the winter production and ramp up the summer gas.

There are 132 oil-producing countries

You can do the cross-referencing if you want, but I guarantee the US will still end up as one of the cheapest.
