fricking cheesy place to vacation unless you're trashy with trashy kids.

Seriously.

The park is nice, the rest is just redneck christian garbage..

Would you be doing a lot of hiking and outdoors stuff?

Or would you be doing a lot of the tourist in-town stuff?

Great "family" vacation spot. Plenty of things that he wife and kids will love. Make sure to take the kids here...

Food is pretty good and the horse show is something the kids will get a hoot out of...

There is also Dollywood (think Six Flags in the Smokies). Ripley's and a really cool Titanic museum. Of course you also need to set aside some time to go on a guided hike, zip-line tour, and/or helicopter tour. Then there's white water rafting as well if that's your thing. Another thing that the kids will probably like is the indoor skydiving place.

And for the Mrs, there also a big outlet mall.

I'm curious. If someone were to classify you, what would they call you?

Oh I'm definitely tattooed white trash to the casual observer.

Been to Gatlinburg 3 times.

You know if you get off the Gatlinburg strip, the scenery is gorgeous. You can get a cabin (condo) in the woods and have a wonderful, relaxing family time in a beautiful place. I'm not sure how mountains and trees are "redneck christian garbage"

Grew up about 30 minutes from there. If you want a cheesy place to vacation with kids so you can do some pseudo camping/hiking and shopping it isn't bad. There are some cool airbrushed tshirts in those parts. If you want to go camping/hiking/rafting there are better places around there without all the tourist. If you go make sure you go to hillbilly golf. The aquarium isn't bad, but I like the Chattanooga one better.

I highly recommend doing this. That way you can go down into town for all the family activities but at the end of the day you can retreat back to the peace and quiet of your cabin.

Also, find some caverns to tour.

This is where I went, and it was awesome. It is about 45 minutes from Gatlinburg in Townsend, TN.

If you want throwing stars, pocket knives, air brushed t-shirts and taffy then you will not be disappointed.

Seriously, it is a good family vacation spot. The national park is the best part. The rest is general touristy sutff.
