Best places to stay around L.A. (looking for boutique type hotels), best beaches to visit, restaurants, and things to do!

I highly suggest going to Venice Beach one day. Setup shop and eat/drink on one of the patio restaurants/bars and people watch. It is fascinating.

More family beaches, head further south.

Thanks! No family friendly activities. It's a girls trip, but we will check out Venice Beach.

Wouldn't say earth, but would say USA.

Venice is nice, Huntington beach is great, Aloha surf school does surfing lessons there. Plus there's a place called second floor with great food. C&O's in Venice has great Italian food. The Hollywood studio tours are fun, just expensive. Knott's Berry farm in Anaheim is pretty awesome plus they have a pinks hot dog's there. Of course Santa Monica beach and Hollywood blvd., walk of fame, capitol records, TCL Chinese Theater, etc. There's a Medieval Times in Anaheim also, if you're into that. Cheesy but the kids enjoyed it. You can usually get tickets to a taping of one of the shows in Burbank or Hollywood.

No problem. For nightclub type scene I actually prefer the downtown LA area over Hollywood area, but both are worth checking out if you like that scene.

Man I miss going to California on the weekend once or twice a month.

Definitely check out Downtown Los Angeles it has grown leaps and bounds over the last few years. Many clubs, bars, and restaurants have opened up in the past couple of years. There is always the museums, plays, spas, y'all can check out also downtown... LINK

thanks! we are only there for 4 days but we are trying to squeeze in one of the beaches, Disneyland, downtown and then Hollywood/Beverly Hills all in 4 days. I don't know if we can realistically do all of that, but we can try.

I recently stayed in the Hotel Oceana in Santa Monica. Across the street from the beach. I highly recommend it

This. We didn't wait in a line the whole time we were there. Sometimes we could ride twice in a row
