Not if it's been encrypted, which most likely it has.

Pay, pull from backup, or SOL.

Had someone get it and the whiles were encrypted. Luckily we had a good backup in place.

When files are encrypted, there are two keys involved, a private and public. The public is stored on the computer and the private is stored on the virus developer's server. It's impossible to decrypt without the other key, hence the $300 ransom.

I had a new person bring me their computer and it had been infected. No backup in place. He paid the $300 and we got the key to decrypt, even it it was infected again.
