Good tricks to speed-heal a dog's pad

My coon dog tore a pad on his front paw. I've been putting some EMT gel dope on it and it keeps it from hurting him for a while, but I don't think that's a good thing. It's getting better, but at this rate it'll be a month before I can hunt him.
Any old school remedies out there? I have some good dog pad fixing juice on the way, but I need something in the mean time.

Best thing I've ever seen is called blu-spray, not sure the actual name but it's sold at the feed store for cuts on horses. If you've got something similar on the way then I'm not sure there's much you could do besides duct tape and towel to keep it clean.

I had some of the powder version of that and put that on it, but it didn't do much good. It's not a cut as much as it is a piece of the outter layer missing.
I'm going to duct tape a towel to his foot and film the carnage. There will be confetti from one end of the yard to the other

Find someone with one of those Korean ice cream cones laying around, or rig one up.
Eta: and I'd give the liquid a shot, sounds like the powder may not be able to soak in there. I've seen walkers that lost a fight with a barb wire fence, skin laid open, heal up like it was a scratch.

Yeah, you can't wash it off. It takes 3 or more days of regular bathing and multiple hand washings to get it off of a human.

* Helps heal surface wounds, cuts, and abrasions
* Antiseptic dressing helps prevent bacterial infections
* Convenient aerosol spray eases use on any horse
Care for your horse's minor wounds, cuts, and skin abrasions. Quick-drying, antiseptic dressing protects surface wounds from bacterial infections. Convenient aerosol spray coats the wound, helps disinfect it, and aids in early scab formation. Penetrating formula is not easily rubbed or washed away. Also perfect for use on harness galls and saddle sores.

All I ever had was the powder.

Kennel the dog for a few days. It'll close up quicker.

Poor guy's been in the pen for a week.

Clean it thoroughly then apply cut heal. Once you feel good about that it's time to superglue the wound together. When the super glue wears off there will be new flesh healed over the wound. I've done this on dogs and myself. A few kids as well.
