Brodrick Bunkley created $2.85M of cap room for the Saints. He cut his '14 salary from $4.5M to $1.65M. He gets a $300k 4/10 roster bonus.

So how does this impact cutting him for the 2015 season?

I'd think it increases the chances that he sticks around as a Saint for sure.

I'd say we need to prepare for life without ben grubbs imo. Brandon Thomas in the 5th or 6th.

Oh snap, it looks like it was a pay cut, not a restructure.

This is what I was thinking but was really going to ask the question since I don't really fully understand restructures. Can someone explain?

So the title should reflect a pay cut, not a restructure. Tricky these saints are...

basically, he's taking a pay cut and we not be pushing any more further guaranteed monies into our future years with cap space. He chose to stick around another year at a reduced price rather than be cut.

There is the money needed to sign the draft picks.

I wonder if it's more of a pay cut with some signing bonus to entice him into doing it or a serious restructure where the money is still in play and just moved around.

Hopefully the numbers will be out soon.

Restructures just turns salary from the current year into a signing bonus so that you can prorate it over the coming years. It usually means you plan to keep them.

But yeah, he took a pay cut.

that works for me

glad we could keep him at a decent price as we move forward...I think we add another DT in the draft for depth in the future. I think ILB and WR are probably the most pressing with C not far behind for the next few years.

Gregory Gibson Jr.

#Saints didn't need to cut Bunkley post-June 1, because the market dictated that he'd lose on the open market. Take the pay cut.
