Any X5 owners here?
Posted by auzach91 on 4/9/14 at 12:52 am00
Looking at around a 2002-2004 x5 (ot poor). I had a 318i before and loved how easy it was to work on. Same with this I'm assuming since its a bmw? Any main concerns? Drawbacks? Positives? Thanks for any feedback possible.

No, but if I did, it would have to be built like this:

Not that old, my buddy just got a 2011 a few months ago, nice as shite.

Drawbacks? Yeah, you're buying a 10-12 yr old car for starters.

I rather just buy a CR-V for 1/3 of the cost. Same thing, equal if not more reliable. I love how those are trying to play Range Rover.

Be a boss and get that X6

easy to work on compared to a newer BMW, I'm sure. Easy to work on compared to a lot of other vehicles...doubt it. Also, parts are going to be more expensive.
I guess make sure it has the I6 in it if you want some reliability...those are pretty stout motors. My gf's 2003 335i was an electrical nightmare, as was my parents 2004 Z4 3.0.

On what planet are a Honda CR-V and a BMW X5 the "same thing?"

Sure. Explain to me the functionality difference.
The only difference is 4 vs 6. It's a small SUV, only difference is you pay for the BMW brand.

Completely different drivetrain a for starters. Completely different level of quality of components. They drive entirely differently than one another.
That's like saying a Porsche Panamera is basically the same thing as a Honda Accord.

I'm sorry but no matter the quality, a small SUV isn't worth $55K. A used 12 yr old one isn't worth 20K, when you can get a new CRV for that price.
And the Porsche vs Honda comparison is a little extreme. BMW ain't what it used to be.

Who's paying $20k for a 2002 X5? You can get a 2007 or 2008 for that price with under 100k miles.
And lolz at saying BMW isn't what it used to be. Nice to see you're trolling hard right out if the gates of ban land.

I owned a CR-V. I'd put the value and reliability up against any other small SUV. It also had more room than it appeared.

That doesn't make it equal to a BMW, and I'm guessing you know that. Have you even driven any BMW, let alone an X5 to make this comparison?

Yes I have. A 2011. I didn't get the hype. Sorry broseph.

BMW is all wheel drive. Another difference.
Have you ever driven one? They drive and handle A LOT different.
