Last year I had the worst crawfish ever at Cormier's in Monroe. I vented about it on this board. That was a year ago.

I was there this past weekend - what a change that has taken place. The crawfish were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and the service was spot on.

It was a very pleasant dining out crawfish experience. Again, the crawfish could not have been better.

A complete turnaround for an establishment that has been there at least 20 years. Well done Cormier's......well done.

My youngest ate there a few weeks ago and said they were very good. A word of caution to the Board, however. Larry prepares them with the steam method and a good bit of "outside" seasoning, per his South West La roots. If you can't take the heat or don't like that style, go elsewhere.

They were good this time because they got back to the season in the ice chest method.

An old friend of mine, we will call him "Dawg", used to boil many a crawfish for Cormier's. He perfected the ice chest seasoning method many moons ago.

RIP "Dawg".

Like Otis says Comiers prepares them per the south of I-10 method of seasoning the outside of the bug. Generally us Meccians take the patented north la soak approach. But they usually aren't bad and the kiddos love the jumper they have in the parking lot.

Although the jumper is legit for keeping the rungs away from my table.

Yes. We had a very good dinner there a few weeks ago. There is an extensive menu and wine list. All of our dishes were very good. I think it will do well, but time will tell. I expect that between Cooton and Nonna, Cory will get a large portion of the big ticket meals sold in Mecca...others are going to get squeezed a bit.

She showed me a pic of her gnocchi with lump crabmeat and it looked amazing. I cant believe that is the old Maybe's, the only time we used to go there was when we were hungover for a big greasy burger and a bloody mary

Oh, it was ordered. There was some serious drinking and gambling that went along with the 2-1 ribeyes onTuesday night.

One of the young waitresses in Maybes works over at Freddie Cascio's place - she is still cool as can be.
