Every college athlete should take note of Shabazz Napier

As I watched Shabazz Napier overcome with emotion at the end of the game it struck me that every college athlete should take note. This young man had expended every ounce of effort and every ounce of emotion, in many ways willing a modestly talented team past a whole team of future NBA first round picks.

It is also noteworthy Napier was a four year player who got better each year. This is the type of career every player should strive for.

This game should also inspire teams like LSU to believe there is enough talent to compete for a national championship. Some may scoff, but it is doubtful that 1-10 Connecticut is any more talented. If so, the margin is not very wide. What it will take to get LSU back to the level will be to change the mindset of the program in the way that Nick Saban affected a moribund LSU football program.

Johnny Jones has opened the talent pipeline into LSU again and there is enough to win big, whether that results in Final Fours and national titles or not.

We are starting to see a changing of the guard and LSU has a great opportunity to make another Fantastic Climb to the Top.

If he doesn't have your attention yet, give it to him.

No, they are a good team, just too inconsistent to rise to a higher level.

Two inconsistent 5'8" guards, hammink, and a Quarterman (who will eventually be good).

If we land the UNLV wing to go with Hornsby and Gray for next season, you'd be on to something

And then stand up and say, "This is what happens when you ban us?" Because thats a real stand up way to conduct yourself on the stage.

Who is the UNLV player. Is he a graduated senior looking to transfer? What are his credentials and stats?

Why shouldn't he be upset about it? They didn't go on probation because of anything he did.

Ill agree in a way bc LSUs players didn't get very emotional, they were all pretty passive guys which stunk bc we needed an emotional loud leader

Exactly. The players on that team got fricked over hard and practically lost a legitimate year of college ball. Every game they played last year was essentially an exhibition. They have the right to say frick the NCAA. You as a fan shouldn't like them either.

This is the same clown who just stated that there should be unions because he goes to bed hungry. Never mind the bountiful meal he had a UConn.

I think it was perfectly appropriate. None of the kids on that team did anything wrong, yet they had to pay the price.

Not gonna happen. One and done has ruined college basketball, IMO. Napier was the exception, rather than the rule.

Oh no! I totally agree with you, but you are out of touch with the current thinking. Good for you. The NCAA needs to change the rule in basketball to the same rule as football.
