My old Makita cordless drill finally bit the dust. Someone recommend me a nice combo set. I don't know much about the batteries or volts these days so recommend me a kit with several tools plus a nice battery.

This is about my price range so recommend me a good kit.

You can't go wrong with dewalt, Makita or Milwaukee, just make sure you get 18 volt or 20 volt in lithium ion if you plan on using it a lot.

For a cheaper set the new 20 volt lithium porter cable isn't bad if it's for use around the house .

What do you use these tools for? Just minor around the house shite or actual work?

If it's minor around the house you don't need a $450 dollar set. Save your money and look in the $250 to $300 range.

I have a dewalt 12v drill and an impact that is bad arse for little around the house projects.

I also have an 18v set if I need it but for minor stuff that 12v kicks arse and it's light and compact.

Dewalt 18v is great. I have no experience with the 20v but I did electrical work for a couple years and always brought my 18v dewalt impact with me. They let us borrow drills at my company but I would always bring my own because I favored my dewalt.

What I have. I just bought my pieces individually though. From my research the individual pieces are higher quality than buying the kits. For example, the circular saw in the kit has a stamped baseplate instead of cast magnesium, and the reciprocating saw in the kit lacks an adjustable foot. For the a little less than the kit I ended up getting the upgraded 20V Max brushless drill ($200 Sears)) and the better circular ($99 Sears) saw and reciprocating saw ($99 Sears) and a higher quality bag ($50 Lowes) I didn't need the hammer drill or the flashlight (if I had gotten the the hammer drill/driver combo I still would have come out $50-$75 cheaper than the kit that includes it and only been without the flashlight)

I've got a DeWalt DCF885 with a Lit/Ion battery with a 20 volt max.

It will drive a 4" wood screw in nothing flat.

Best drill I ever owned.

Dewalt 18v drill/driver combo.

They usually go on sale around Christmas time if you can wait. If not their not that expensive anyway.

I have the Dewalt 20v and its amazing. My parents came over to help on a project and used the set...fell in love and purchased a set themselves

I got the Impact + Drill combo w/2 batteries from Lowes online black friday (I think it was $175 shipped to my door). I recently added a saw

My ridgid set has been very good for general stuff around the house. They are made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty even on the batteries

I have burned up 3 Bosch drills. Never again. My votes are Milwaukee and Mikita.

Does that dewalt charge in 15 min like the Makita? If so, then I say a dewalt or makita. That's why I bought my makita, because it charged so quick.
