Any frontrunners? Price not really a factor.

i have an electric smoker and its a piece of shite. Honestly had I not received it as a gift, I'd toss it. It's too difficult to keep consistent and accurate temps for long periods.

That's the entire point of going electric. What do you have?

I looked into several a few months back and I opted out of this.
Reading over reviews after reviews, most were a piece of shite.
However I was only looking to spend about 400 or less.

pretty much the exact one the guy linked.
I don't get the heat level nor does it stay consistent. I'm telling you because mine is constantly dipping. Also using the wood pellets sucks. I prefer actual chunks of wood.

Well, that's disappointing. Looking for something requiring less of a watchful eye, as alcohol is usually involved.

Granted I only use BGE but it only needs a little maintenance and a not so watchful eye IYAM

I use mine frequently and enjoy the heck out of the ease of use. I use small wood chunks. I have put a Maverick thermometer probe hanging in the smoker just to see if it was consistent with what the smoker was reading and it never bounces more than 5 degrees either way.

I have this unit from Masterbuilt and haven't had any problems with it. Mainly got it for my dad to play with when he wants to smoke something as it is very easy to operate.

Have you considered a pellet grill.
I have a green mountain grill, as do several people i know.
Burns blended wood pellets and has digital temp control as well as a digital meat thermometer.

Cookshack are really nice. I would like one, but my area of the patio is getting a bit cluttered already
I have read the SmokinTex smokers are nice as well

Wow, I must be doing something wrong, because my MES 30" electric is the bomb. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Consistent accurate temp.
Just wow

Once you cook with a Masterbuilt electric smoker, you will throw all of your other cooking equipment away.
Here are two racks of baby backs from my Masterbuilt last month:
Last week's barn yard pimp:
I could go on with this all night.
