Has anyone here ever filed a claim with City Hall in New Orleans for damage to their vehicle caused by potholes, etc. and been reimbursed?

I slowly drove over something in Lakeview that broke one of my freaking motor mounts!

Obviously no one on the OT needs the money, but this would be done strictly out of principle.

Any suggestions, etc. are greatly appreciated!

Not in Nola...

But back in June when they were doing work on Stanford in BR I went over a manhole that was above street level and it cracked my oil pan. $1200 repair. Filed a claim with my insurance (USAA) and they reimbursed me. IDK if they went after the city to get the money or not.

I wonder this all the time. Some of them are so deep you could literally be stuck in them.

A couple of years ago, I was thinking of starting a non=-profit that went and filled potholes with asphalt. Would take funds from the neighborhood and fix potholes on the weekend.

So you had time to slow down and go over it, but it didn't cross your mind to steer around it?

My dad popped a boat trailer tire in Nola. State police told him to file a form. He got reimbursed within a couple months

I have a dash camera, and I'm making a video of the worst roads of NOLA. I seriously have driven on almost every street.

Mid-City and Gentilly have the best roads for the outlying areas of the city. Lakeview and Algiers are the worst on average. With the worst streets period being in the east and the 9th ward.

Mid-City

I love mid city mostly for the roads. Living uptown I wanted to murder people getting from one place to another.

There is road somewhere Uptown towards the Garden District, that I randomly turned onto a few years ago. For about 30 feet (one block), it was the smoothest road I'd ever been on.

We actually made the block and drove on it again we were so impressed.

It was actually filled with some kind of manhole cover on top of it. I've carefully driven over those a thousand times.

You're also assuming that the area around it was better to drive on. If you've seen enough streets in Lakeview, you would know that's not always the case.

Are you sure it was a motor mount though? A motor mount usually only breaks when the rubber on the mount has started to wear down or if the vehicle was in a violent wreck. Usually pot holes kill ball joints and tie-rod ends.
I have broken so many ball joints in my last truck because of those roads.

It's funny that on many streets in NOLA 5mph is too fast.

The above picture was title (worst street in NOLA, but it's in the 7th, so it wouldn't be in the top 20) I know of some in ALgiers that would be so fun to hit in a 4x4 with swampers. In old aurora too, decent area.
Uptown has this road too, right off Fountainbleu that was like a war zone, but has since been fixed.

I think people need to realize if they want better roads, they are going to have to pay more taxes for them.

Streets in the Marigny/Bywater area of NO are simply atrocious. Buddy of mine spends a lot of time in Mexico and claims that our streets are far worse.
