I'm using turbo tax, doing my state income tax, and it's asking me:

quote:

Did you pay one of the following assessments on your Louisiana homeowner's insurance policy?

Louisiana Citizens Fair Plan
Louisiana Citizens Coastal Plan
None of the above

On my 04/2013-04/2014 homeowner's declaration page, it says:

quote:

2005 LA Citizens Assessment Fee = $46

So how do I know which one that is, Fair or Coastal?

Man, unless you know what the hell you're doing and have the patience, I would just have a CPA do it for a nominal fee.

Do you live in a coastal parish?

Both the Fair Plan and Coastal Plan assessments should be treated the same - fully refundable. You could just default to inputting it as Fair Plan.

It's 46 bucks, it isn't like the world depends on getting it right. Some IRS person in DC probably won't know either.

It doesn't really matter. You get the credit for all Louisiana Citizens Insurance assessments. LINK
