According to Tim Evans and Mark Alesia of the Indianapolis Star, the arrest came less than three weeks after a woman was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in a townhouse Irsay previously had given to her.

Police and the coroner are reportedly waiting for toxicology results before determining the cause of Kimberly Wundrum’s death. Per the Star, a police report determines that a plate with “white powder, straw, razor” were found in the townhouse, along with photographs of Irsay.

For some reason the death of a woman less than a month ago is a less compelling story than a wide receiver from the hood knowing guys who were involved in gangs...

quote:

...there seems to be little disagreement on the proposition that Irsay must face the same consequences that a player would face under similar circumstances. When it comes to disciplining an owner, however, the financial penalty that best mirrors the standard punishment of two game checks for a first-offense DUI by a player could be a major fine that would take away two weeks of the money Irsay earns during the season based on his 100-percent ownership of the franchise.

A mere fine won't drive the point home.

And taking away draft picks, etc. hurts the team which in turn hurts the fans.

Ed DeBartolo was pressured into selling the 49ers to his sister when he had his legal issues, but I'm not sure that there is a plan in place for that.

The one that concerns an actual athlete.

right, but an owner is more important than an athlete... which ought to make misbehavior by the owner a bigger story

So an owner of an NFL team facing four drug related felonies has a woman die of a drug overdose in a house that he bought for her isn't news worthy, but a guy who knows someone who is in a gang is.

Gotcha.

That writer implied he had something to do with her death simply because he bought her the house...that's a libelous statement.

Drug addicts usually hang out with other drug addicts. The only way this is interesting is if you think there was some sort of foul play by Irsay, which would be jumping mountains to a conclusion

A year after a star player is charged for murder and that guy also has gang ties? You bet your arse it is.

And having been cleared of all involvement by the police over a year ago.

I know he wasn't involved (nor do I think he's some gang member), but the guy I was responding to completely misrepresented Jackson's ties to sketchy individuals.

Or Irsay's drug problems are much deeper than people realize. You can't have an owner of a team beholden to drug dealers and other shady characters for reasons that should be obvious.

You don't know the definition of libel.

And I find it interesting that you didn't call it libel when other reporters implied that DeSean Jackson was a gangster.

But back to Irsay.

He has been charged with four drug related felonies.

A woman who had his picture up in several places in a townhome bought by him died of a drug overdose. Someone he knows and perhaps had a relationship with died due to a drug overdose in the house that he bought for her.

I get what you're saying, but my question would be do we know if Irsay had anything to do with her death? If she OD'd at the home by herself I don't know why that should be much of a story
