I just won at Risk in 2.5 hours...any good risk stories?

Played for the first time in years and beat my bros GF (no pics) after she sat on Australia the whole time and took over Asia. Held on in darkest Africa til the end and came with a hammer blow. (The Only war Africa ever wins is risk. )
Playing it makes me think of how terrible and awesome it is to play it. The rush when you are on a hot streak, the agony when your huge army destroys itself to a lone man rolling 6s on Alaska.
How once you don't have a chance of winning anymore you just want someone to take you out and it goes from being all into it to disinterestedly sulking on the side and hoping all your rolls fail.
I few like I need to watch the Seinfeld episode with risk. What's that one called? Something about Moops and Ukraine being weak, right?
So when's the last time you played? Have fun?

Damn, I miss that game. No good stories come to mind. I liked Stratego, too.

I will play the hell out of some stratego. I hadn't finished a game of risk in about a decade before this. I was into it. Felt like Stalin.

Good stuff. The toughest part of Risk is finding someone willing to play to the end.

That's the truth. My brother wasn't going to play and I wasn't going to play with 3 people but he decided to and it was a blast for the most part. Once you lose the parity it gets frustrating. Watching my mom stab him in the back was hilarious

That's great. Damn. I'm about to order it on Amazon and make my wife and stepdaughter play.

She's a sweet little cheerleader and she turned into a ruthless Mao Zedong. Cold and ruthless.

The last time we played risk it went for over 30 hours....straight.
We would flip a coin before eacb turn, heads you got reinforcements, tails you did not.
The key to risk is not to hold australia...rather north and south america. Geographically isolated with three points of ingress. Hold great britain, north africa, and kamchatka and you can inch your way anywhere.
The asia strategy can work...if you take australia, then thailand then india, the middle east and eastern europe. Taking the middle east and eastern europe cuts your battle front for west asia in half.
There is also a german strategy as well that works...though it loses unless the guy playing is brilliant for the entire game.
I used to do the whole diplomacy thing while playing and was afraid to lose territories at all...quick way to lose. Blitzkrieg leaving nothing but minimal reinforcements behind is a nearly impossible strategy to beat.
Gonna have to call some guys up, get some whiskey and play.
Been a few years now.

I played against 2 of my friends, heavy drinking was involved, took us 3 days to finish, plenty of betrayals and backstabbing, I won by starting with North America and crushing my final opponent that hid like a bitch in Australia

I always modified the rules so you could move more armies around

We used to do semester long games in college. I like risk but Axis and Allies was more fun for me. Maybe some of us should get an online game going.
