Taking a bar table just to drink (a couple)

Sitting in pat o's @ the bar to watch the game. Table opens up. Wife says let's grab a table when it opens up. I said nah, we only drinking, just the two of us, both lightweights, hate to take up a waiters table. Correct etiquette? Taking a table to drink 4-6 beers in 2-3 hours = dick move, right? OT?

It is a nice move but as long as you are making orders during the occupancy of a table, I see no problem.

If I do that I make sure and leave the server a fat tip.

Not if you take that into consideration and leave a fat tip that would pretty much be equal to 2 or 3 different parties sitting there and eating.

Just tip really well if you do. Some people who are decent tippers don't understand the time they take should also be taken into account.
