What can you tell me about the LSU’s Student Managed Investment Fund, I'm reading info on an investment group and this was listed under a guys name. Should I be impressed?
If this needs to be on the Money board please move it there.

I wouldn't necessarily come away impressed. The class is definitely a unique offering and i would question any finance major that didn't take the class. Also, for a lot of finance majors, it's a good exposure to talking about daily events/company events in a group setting that's not real intimidating.

I didn't take it and I was a finance major. Seemed interesting, and if I were to go back, I would probably take it

Easy class that sounds more impressive than it is. I got a B with very little effort. The biggest positive is that it discusses real world investment scenarios, unlike most other investment classes. Sorry guys, you need to understand black sholes but you will never use it.

It's not even remotely impressive. Almost all large universities have a student managed fund - very little truly speculative investing (due to parameters placed on the program) - and the professor has to approve all trades. The two most impressive student managed funds are northern Colorado and Penn (in terms of yoy returns).
At LSU, he's just some tool with over a 3.5 that sucked dick to get into the class

Why? There's much about finance that has nothing to do with stocks or portfolio management. And I bet the class doesn't much resemble how portfolio management is really done either.

I was in the first two semesters of the class back in the day.
Didn't do much but listen to Morales.
